Charter Member, Congress for the New Urbanism
Bruce Corban has practiced Landscape Architecture for many years within the structure and flexibility of a private consulting firm, performing within the first twenty years as Partner in Canada’s largest landscape architectural practice at the time. His professional experience includes challenging and significant landmark projects in Toronto, the United States and overseas. In recent years as Senior Principal at Corban and Goode, he pursued projects that explored the structural and creative interface between urban open space and built-form of towns and cities. Bruce participates directly in design charrettes and visioning exercises, prepares urban open space plans, design guidelines, and streetscape plans; some of which carry on to construction as part of a start-to-finish, full service consulting process. This range of involvement from concept to build-out is unusual in the profession.
A Charter Member of the Congress for New Urbanism, Bruce champions the imperative of well-designed and connected public open space within transit oriented, pedestrian friendly, form-based planned communities. A long standing practitioner, Bruce has been a landscape program guest critic at the Universities of Toronto, Guelph and Ryerson, lectured on New Urbanism in Landscape Architectural Practice at the Toronto Design Exchange and served as a juror for the City of Toronto Urban Design Awards.
